Brief History

Bellevue Public Library has existed in the community for more than 150 years.A reading room was established in 1846 by a group of local citizens. The Library was more formally organized in 1891 when Articles of Incorporation were signed with the State of Ohio and the Bellevue Library Association was formed. The Library existed as a reading room in various locations in the community, but has been in its current location since 1903 when a Carnegie grant was approved to build a library. Bellevue Public Library is one of 111 Carnegie libraries built in Ohio.
